OpenCandy Hails Success With TechSmith
San Diego-based OpenCandy, which develops technology to encourage software downloads by consumers, is hailing its success with TechSmith, a developer of screen capture and recording capture. The firm claimed Thursday that TechSmith has been seeing 88 percent lower CPAs than its traditional marketing using OpenCandy's product, which encourages users to download and install other software titles while they are waiting for the install and download of open source and freeware products. OpenCandy was founded by former DivX co-founder Darrius Thompson, and has scored venture backing from Bessemer Venture Partners and O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, along with angel investments from inviduals such as Excite/JotSpot co-founder Joe Kraus, DivX co-founder Jordan Greenhall, and LinkedIn's Reid Hoffman.
