OCP Ships Gigabit Ethernet Transceivers
Woodland Hills-based Optical Communication Products has introduced a new line of 1.3 micron VCSEL-Based Gigabit Ethernet pluggable transceivers. The new transceivers are targeted at allowing for transmission of Gigabit Ethernet optical signals of up to 2km over multimode fiber. The components extend the range of Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fiber from 220m, and helps eliminate the distance limitations companies and providers were facing as they transitioned from longer distance capable Fast Ethernet cable runs. The transceiver is available in GBIC and SFP form factors.
