NeuroVigil Lands $250K From DFJ
La Jolla-based NeuroVigil, a spinout of the Salk Institute, has scored a seed funding round of $250,000 from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Frontier, and Zone Ventures. Draper Fisher Jurvetson announced the investment Friday, saying that the startup gained the funding after winning its annual business plan competition, the DFJ Venture Challenge. NeuroVigil is using brain analysis to treat sleep disorders such as sleep apnea; the firm was founded by Dr. Philip Low, a graduate student at The Salk Insitute. According to DFJ, the company won in a competition that included 16 teams from 12 universities; City Media, a startup out of UCLA, also made the finalist list. More information »
