MaxLinear Hits 100M Tuner IC Shipments
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, a developer of radio frequency, analog, and mixed-signal semiconductors, said today that it has now shipped more than 100 million of its TV tuner ICs. The firm said the shipment numbers come as a result of its penetration into the cable and terrestrial TV markets. MaxLinear's semiconductors are used for televisions and set-top boxes. The firm had said a year ago that it had shipped 50 million of the deviecs. MaxLinear is one of the venture-backed firms which successfully reached an IPO this year, hitting the NYSE in March; the firm had been backed by USVP, Battery Ventures, Mission Ventures, UMC Capital, and others.
