Los Angeles Fast 500 Winners Announced
The Los Angeles winners of the Deloitte Fast 500 ranking of fastest growing companies was announced last night at an event at Santa Monica's Shutters on the Beach, with 26 companies recognized in the overall 2011 Technology Fast 500, and three "Technology Rising Stars" recognized in the Los Angeles area. In the private award event, Deloitte announced the local companies who made the national list of fastest growing companies. The highest ranking firms on the overall Technology Fast 500 from the area were Santa Barbara-based FastSpring, a developer of software e-commerce tools headed by Dan Engel, which was ranked at number 13 nationally with 17,468% revenue growth from 2006 to 2010. The next highest ranked firm was Marina Del Rey-based TeleSign, the security and authentication provider headed by serial entrepreneur <Steve Jillings, which was ranked number 15 nationally at 15,558% revenue growth.
Other highly ranked firms on the list were Santa Monica-based TrueCar, headed by Scott Painter and ranked at number 63, with 1,966% growth; Los Angeles-based CyberDefender, ranked at 98 with with 1,068% growth; and Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal, ranked 101, with 1,038% revenue growth. In addition to the overall Technology Fast 500 winners, three, "Technology Rising Stars" in the area were awarded--companies which met the percentage growth and other requirements of the list, but were less than the minimum five years old. Those firms were Campus Explorer, headed by Jerry Slavonia, with 1,497% revenue growth; EdgeCast Networks, headed by Alex Kazerani, with 521% growth; and Hulu, led by Jason Kilar, which had 907% percentage revenue growth in the period.
