IndieU Looks To Connect College Students, Music Artists
IndieU, a new, Los Angeles area startup, is hoping to help connect local college students with independent artists. The startup recently launched a service, which lets college students follow the musical interest of their friends, create playlists, and stream and download independent songs for free, and find local independent musicians. On the artist side, the startup connects independent artists with opportunities at campuses, to perform at local colleges and parties, to broaden their exposure to fans. The startup says it has launched at fifteen colleges across the nation, and has begun recruiting college representatives to create events, choose local artists to perform, and where revenue from those events are split between the host, the artist, and IndieU. The startup is located in Thousand Oaks, California.
