Illumina's Flatley Becomes Executive Chairman
San Diego-based life sciences equipment maker Illumina said late Monday that Jay Flatley, the company's Chairman and CEO, is shifting to the board as Executive Chairman, with President Francis deSouza becoming both President and CEO. Flatley had been CEO of the company since 1999. According to Illumina, Flatley grew the company from $500,000 in annual revenues to $2.2 billion in revenues in 2015. deSouza joined Illumina in 2013 as President. Illumina manufactures DNA sequencing and other related scientific equipment, which are widely used in the life sciences market.
