Illumina Donates Sequencing Platforms To India
San Diego-based life sciences equipment maker Illumina said last week that it is donating $1M in sequencing equipment to groups in Mumbai, India, to bolster that country's COVID-19 surveillance ability. According to Illumina, is is donating two of its newest, next-generation (NGS) platforms, reagants, and four years of service support to the Molecular Diagnostic Reference Laboratory at Kasturba Hospital, in the Municipal Corporate of Greater Mumbai. The donation will help expand SARS-CoV-2 sequencing capabilities in the region and support the broader genomic surveillance effort across India, according to Illumina.
