How You Can Catch A Glimpse Of the Space Shuttle Endeavour Today
If you're in the Los Angeles area, NASA is flying the Space Shuttle Endeavour into LAX today, after doing a flyover of the state. NASA said it will be flying the orbitor on top of its modified 747 aircraft today, starting around 8:15 a.m. out of Edwards Air Force Base. The shuttle will then fly to Northern California, and then eventually circle back towards the Los Angeles area around 11:30 a.m. According to NASA, the Space Shuttle will be passing over such regional landmarks as the California Science Center, Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey, Disneyland, The Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles City Hall, the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, Malibu Beach, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, the Queen Mary, Universal Studios and Venice Beach. The airplane trip is the first step in getting the Endeavour to the California Science Center; the shuttle will be sitting in a hanger at LAX and transported by ground next month in a complicated move via surface streets.
