Here's One Tech Company With No Gender Issue: LA's Evite
With all the hand wringing in the tech industry over gender balance and equity, here's one company that apparently has no issue: LA-based Evite, the online invitations service. According to Evite, women currently make up 59 percent of its total employees, and 52 percent of its senior leadership roles, which includes its technical positions. Evite said that women head up its Product, Analytics and Data Infrastructure, Mobile Development, Testing and Advertising Operations, in addition to HR Legal & Operations, Process Excellence, Sales Strategy, and Corporate Communications & Business Development. Evite's gender balance is in stark contrast to such companies as Apple (68% male, 32% female employees and 72% male, 28% male leadership); Uber (63.9% male, 36.1% female employees, and 84.6% male in technical positions versus 15.4% female). Evite attributes its gender balance in part to the fact that one of its co-founders, Selina Tobaccowala is female. The company is led by CEO Victor Cho.
