Google Goggles In Marketing Experiment

Google Goggles, the mobile visual recognition application being developed by search giant Google, said today that it has launched a new "marketing experiment" around Buick, Disney, Diageo, T-Mobile, and Delta Airlines. According to Google's Goggles team, those five brands have created "Goggles-enabled" print ads, movie posters, and other media which will allow users to take a picture of those ads, and be able to click through to special mobile destinations for those brands. The new feature is a full circle from the technology behind Google Googles, which Google acquired by Santa Monica-based Neven Vision back in 2006. Neven Vision and its team--which now work in Google's Santa Monica office developing Google Googles--had originally been applying its visual and image search technology to tie users to mobile marketing campaigns via cell phone photos.
