Glaukos Gets Approval In Japan
Laguna Hills-based glaucoma treatment developer Glaukos said today that it has received approval of its iStent Trabecular Micro-Bypass Stent in Japan. The approval came from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW). Glaukos said the approval said the approval comes for use of the device for use in conjunction with cataract surgery for the reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult patients diagnosed with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma who are currently treated with ocular hypotensive medication. Glaukos says its device is now approved for sale in a total of 27 countries; it first received U.S. approval in June of 2012.
