Former Broadcom Engineer Gets Eight Months For Stealing IP
A former engineer from Broadcom has been sentenced to eight months in prison for stealing trade secrets, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Broadcom has significant operations in Southern California, particularly in Orange County. The US DOJ said that Kim copied more than 500 Broadcom files from its document repository system, related to Broadcom's Trident family of chips, including those contained in test plans, design verification environment files, and design specifications, and then shared that information with a startup based in the People's Republic of China (PRC). The US DOJ said "Kim repeatedly accessed and referenced the Broadcom trade secrets on his personal electronic devices as well as the laptop issued by his new employer".
