Fonality Hits One Billion Cloud Calls
Culver City-based Fonality, a developer of Voice-over-IP, business PBX phone software, said late last week that it served its one-billionth cloud-based call recently, and had "record sales" during Q4. According to Fonality, it saw a 20 percent increase in Q4 2009 sales versus its prior year, with 28 percent more customers acquired in the quarter than the prior year. Financial details of the quarter were not disclosed by the firm. The company offers both an on-premise version of its software, PBXtra, as well as a newer, cloud-based, hosted offering called UNBOUND. Fonality is backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Intel Capital, and Azure Capital Partners, and is headed by Chris Lyman.
