eSolar Inks Another Solar Plant Deal
Pasadena-based eSolar, the thermal solar technology developer backed by Idealab, has inked another solar plant deal here in California, this time with Pacific Gas and Electric. According to PG&E, it is building a 92 megawtt solar thermal plan, to be built near Lancaster, using eSolar solar thermal technology. PG&E has signed an agreement with Alpine SunTower LLC, which is a subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed, however, the deal follows a solar power plant arrangement with NRG Energy in New Mexico, which was announced earlier this month. eSolar and NRG Energy said they are looking to deploy up to 500 MW of solar thermal power in California and the Southwest US.
