eSolar In Deal With Sanmina-SCI
Burbank-based utility-scale, solar power developer eSolar is looking to electronics contract manufacturer Sanmina SCI to optimize its component design and manufacturing, the two announced Monday. According to the two, Sanmina-SCI will work on optimizing eSolar's solar collector system product offering, making those devices easier to manufacture and scale, as well as to reduce costs. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. eSolar develops concentrating solar power technology used in utility scale solar installations. The company is venture backed by NRG, Google, Oak Investment Partners, Quercus Trust, Acme, and Idealab, where the company was started.
