Edmunds.com Launches Redesign, Plans iPhone App
Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com, a provider of automotive information services, said today that it has rolled out a new site to its visitors, and is planning a release of an iPhone app--all part of an overhaul to update the service. Edmunds said the firm's site had "essentially looked the same" for many years, and CEO Jeremy Anwyl, in his blog, said the change was "a long time coming". Anwyl inferred that the changes were targeted at a new generation of consumers, saying that watching a "Gen Yer" buy a car was "edifying". Among the new tools and features are features for finding out if a car has iPod connectivity; pre-production car listings; ability to "save" research on cars from any web site; and better dealer ratings and reviews. Edmunds also said it is testing four different home pages to see which ones are most popular with users, in addition to releasing an iPhone app in coming weeks.
