EDF Renewables Brings New Wind Project In New York Online

San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewables North America says it has brought a new, 80 megawatt wind project in New York online. According to EDF Renewables, the 80 MW Copenhagen Wind Project is now fully operational and delivering electricity, through a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Narragansett Electric Company. The project includes 40 wind turbines, manufactured by Vestas Wind Systems A/S. EDF Renewables did not say how much it spent building the project, but said it invested $15 million in supplies, equipment, utilities and fuel sourced from local businesses. The company touted the economic impact of its project to the local community, saying it supported 200 local jobs during construction of the project. The company says it expects to pay $700,000 in annual property taxes to the local community, on top of a $430,000 agreement it has with the Town of Denmark and a $60,000 "Cultural Mitigation Agreement" with the local community.
