DONE Ventures Gets Trial Date In NBC Suit
Los Angeles-based DONE! Ventures, the Internet marketing firm headed by Ben Padnos, the former founder of BetterPPC, said today that it has received a trial date in its lawsuit against NBC Universal. DONE! had sued NBC over a failed domain name sale back in May of 2010, after it said NBC Universal agreed to sell the company Women.com and Women.net in via domain name broker Sedo. DONE! Ventures said that Judge S. James Otero has set a trial date of December 13, 2011. DONE! sued NBC Universal after it agreed to buy the domains for $1M via Sedo, but NBC pulled out of the deal. NBC apparently agreed to sell the domain, based on emails included in the lawsuit, but then backed out at the last minute on the sale. Padnos sold BetterPPC in September of 2008 to Tsavo Media, the startup which was started by current MySpace president Michael Jones.
