Docstoc Launches Marketplace, Rev Share Effort
Santa Monica-based Docstoc, the online document sharing site run by Jason Nazar, is launching a new marketplace this morning which will allow users to sell their own content on the firm's site. According to the firm, its new Docstore will allow users to sell their professional documents from the site, splitting revenues with Docstoc. Docstoc said users will initially get 100 percent of revenue of sales of documents for the first 60 days, and then an even split of revenues between the seller and the firm. The company also said it will provide live customer support via phone and chat for both sellers and purchasers on the marketplace, provide analytics and reporting tools for sellers, and allow for bundling of documents into packages to help sell related products. Docstoc said now has over 20M unique visitors a month to its site. The firm is venture backed by Rustic Canyon Ventures, Crosscut Ventures, along with local angels Matt Coffin, Robin Richards, Brett Brewer and others.
