Delivery Drivers Who Were Delivering For Amazon Continue Strike Over Heat
Delivery drivers who were working for a Amazon contractor, are continuing to strike, even as Amazon says that the drivers are not its employees, and that it has terminated the contractor which was paying those delivery drivers. According to reports, the strikes came as a result of complaints about heat exposure and working without air conditioning in delivery vans, even as the U.S. has been seeing record temperatures and an extended heatwave. The drivers have been striking since June 24th, although Amazon said it had terminated the contractor which was paying the drivers, Battle Tested Strategies. Companies that contract out delivery for Amazon drive Amazon branded vans, and their delivery drivers wear Amazon uniforms, and use Amazon computer systems, but Amazon says they are independent contractors.
