Cue Gets $481M For COVID-19 Tests
San Diego-based Cue Health, which is developing COVID-19 testing products, reported late last night that it has received a $481M award from the Department of Defense (DOD), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to expand domestic production capacity for its point-of-care COVID-19 tests. The company said the award is aimed at helping it deploy deploy six million molecular, point-of-care Cue COVID-19 Tests by March 2021, for a program run by the DOD's Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND). Cue Health said that all manufacturing for its tests will be performed exclusively in San Diego at its facilities. Ayub Khattak is founder and CEO of Cue. The company said its tests take about 20 minutes to obtain results for individual patients.
