Conversant Becomes Part Of Alliance Data After $2.3 Billion Deal
Westlake Village-based online advertising company Conversant--which until recently was known as ValueClick--is now officially part of Alliance Data, after the completion of Alliance Data's acquisition deal with the company. The deal was worth $2.3 Billion, and had been announced initially in September. Conversant will become part of Alliance Data's Epsilon unit, helping Alliance to scale its existing business line, and help it scale in the areas of display, mobile, video and social digital channels. Alliance Data said it paid $1.3 billion in stock and approximately $1 billion in cash for Conversant. ValueClick had renamed itself as Conversant in February in an attempt to rebrand the company. ValueClick was one of Southern California's original dot com companies, having had an IPO in the dot com heydey of 2000.
