Cognition Releases Search Software
Los Angeles-based Cognition Technologies, which is developing natural language processing software for the search and software application market, said Wednesday that it has released its natural language processing software, Semantic NLP. The firm said that the software can understand word and phrase meanings in computer applications and the web. Cognition is targeting its technology towards improving technology products, providing better precision and recall on searches, for self-service applications, and web advertising. According to the firm, it is looking to license its technology to content owners in the enterprise, web, and to such vertical markets as health and legal. Cognition's software competes against firms such as Powerset and Hakia. Cognition is angel backed by the Tech Coast Angels, and is headed by Scott Jarus, former President of j2 Global Communications.
