Boingo Wireless In Wi-Fi Offload Deal With Major Carrier
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless reports that it has signed a major, U.S. tier one wireless carrier in a Wi-Fi offload agreement. Name of the carrier was not announced, nor were financial terms of the deal, however, Boingo said that the deal will offload Wi-Fi on 40 million handsets using Boingo's network in 2015. Boingo said the Wi-Fi offload deal will automatically connect a user's mobile phone to its networks--without user intervention--to offload traffic data on the un-named carrier's cellular network. Boingo explained that the system will automatically connect a customer's device into its network without user interaction. Boingo Wireless is led by David Hagan.
