Atom Tickets Raises $50M For Mobile Ticketing Apps
Santa Monica-based Atom Tickets, the developer of a mobile app which lets users find and buy movie tickets for groups, has raised $50M in a funding round, the company disclosed over the weekend. The funding came from Lionsgate, which led the investment, along with The Walt Disney Company and Fox. Atom Tickets was founded by Ameesh Paleja, Matthew Bakal, and Geoff Schaevitz. Atom Tickets currently offers up iOS and Android apps, which allow friends to coordinate ticket buys for theaters, automatically shares those theater plans with friends, and lets people pay for their tickets separately. Paleja was the first employee and head of Amazon.com's digital R&D facility in Southern California, where Atom said he oversaw more than 550 employees. More information »
