ARMORWAY Spins Out Of USC
A new, Los Angeles startup, ARMORWAY, has spun out of the University of Southern California, the USC Stevens Center for Innovation announced THursday. According to USC, ARMORWAY has been issued an exclusive license to commercialize software to intelligently plan randomized, security patrols for security agencies. The software is aimed at airports, municipalities, border patrol, and other applicaitons.
The technology being commercialized by ARMORWAY was developed at USC's National Homeland Security Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE). USC said the startup is using "game theory", technology which calculates different offensive and defensive actions based on their complex costs and benefits. The new company is headed by Zareh Baghdasarian, who was most recently Entrepreneur In Residence at the USC Stevens Center for Innovation; Baghdasarian also is a Venture Director at venture capital firm California Technology Ventures.
