Aristos Ships RAID Chip
Foothill Ranch-based Aristos Logic said today that it has begun shipping a new, single-chip RAID product for the storage industry. Aristos said its new product, the AL3450 UltraSlice-MPX, is the third generation of the firm's RAID storage processor technology. Aristos chips are used by storage and computing manufacturers to provide RAID capability to their products. RAID is used to protect against disk drive failures in storage arrays. According to Aristos, the new chip provides support for Serial ATA, Serial Attached SCSI, and Fibre Channel storage protocols. Aristos said the new chip is specifically targeted at blade server manufacturers. The company is venture backed by Panorama Capital, Texas Pacific Group, Woodside Fund, and Quicksilver Ventures.
