Amplify Joins Accelerator Crowd
Venice Beach-based Amplify, a new startup accelerator headed by Paul Bricault and Richard Wolpert, has uncloaked itself this morning, the latest in a string of startup accelerators in Southern California. Bricault is a Venture Partner at Greycroft Partners, and Wolpert was most recently at the Mailroom fund. Amplify said it will invest in companies at the intersection of technology and entertainment. The accelerator joins a long list of accelerators to ramp their efforts in the region recently, including Science (Mike Jones), LaunchLA (Mark Suster), MuckerLab (Erik Rannala), Start Engine (Howard Marks), UpstartLA (Dan Dato and Bruce Brown), K5Launch (Amir Banafatemi, Ray Chan, David Cheng, and Kai Tao)--just to name a few. It looks as if Amplify has $4.5M in its own fund, and plans to invest $50,000 in seed funding to companies accepted to its program. Unlike the other accelerators, Amplify says it has a rolling curriculum and no fixed class schedules or deadlines.
