Amgen Lines Up Behind Two Bay Area Startups
Thousand Oaks-based Amgen is helping two, Bay Area startups, by offering up lab space and access to its scientific and business leaders, as part of a program called the "Amgen Golden Ticket", the company said on Tuesday. According to Amgen and MBC BioLabs, they have awarded two startups, Regenecor and Nitrome Biosciences, with access to one year of lab bench space and access to core facilities at the life sciences incubator run by MBC BioLabs in San Francisco. The award also gives those startups access to Amgen's executives and scientists to help advance their scientific programs. Amgen says it has been been sponsoring MBC BioLabs since 2016. Regenecor is developing therapies to regenerate the human heart after a heart attack Nitrome Biosciences is developing enzymes, with an effort to develop drugs targeting an enzyme to treat Parkinson's Disease, as well as other neurodegeneration, inflammation and age-related disorders.
