AeroVironment Plans Fall Rollout Of Home EV Charging Stations
Monrovia-based AeroVironment said this morning that it is scheduled to begin installing its home, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations this fall, after receiving Underwriters Laboratories listing on its products. The firm said its network of certified installers have begun home assessments in preparing for charging stations for an un-named major auto manufacturer, and expects those stations to be installed in the fall. Aerovironment has a long history of involvement in the electric vehicle industry, having been the firm which designed and installed electric charging stations for GM's EV-1 several years ago. The company inked a deal to install home charging systems for Nissan's Leaf back in January. AV said its is developing fast charging systems for multi-unit housing, retail establishments, public locations, fleet operations, automotive dealerships, roadside assistance, and other applications, in addition to home charging. Aerovironment is also a maker of unmanned aerial vehicles for the military.
